Abstract
The paper, through an extensive literature review specific to selected institutions of higher learning, compares contemporary entrepreneurial learning models to understand how academic environments foster innovation. The increasing global emphasis on universities as engines of economic growth and innovation necessitates the exploration of such models. Institutions like Stanford, MIT, SIM, and NUS were purposefully chosen due to their recognized contributions to academic entrepreneurship and their diverse geographical and developmental contexts. These cases develop a contemporary yet exploratory study of academic entrepreneurship across differing systems. Academic entrepreneurship—reflected in spinoffs, startups, accelerators, and innovation labs—clearly creates differentiation among institutions in terms of entrepreneurial drivers and outcomes.
